The North Shore (IL) Chapter, The Links, Incorporated

The North Shore Illinois Chapter of the Links, Inc. has been serving Chicago North Shore and neighboring communities for almost 50 years. Our 39 members and 7 alumnae remain committed to enhancing artists' careers and exposing new and established artists through sponsoring exhibits, art auction and a fine arts high school. We have co-sponsored traveling national art exhibits as well.

We are one of many Links chapter who donated $10,000 to the Schools for Africa project. Currently, we are designing a solar powered technology Mobil cart for our school in the Kwa Zulu Natal; Province of South Africa. The North Shore Illinois chapter is dedicated to improving opportunities and quality of life for African in Diaspora and on the continent. We also support women and children with our generous contributions to a safe house in Waukegan, the JoAhn Brown Nash Reading Room in Family Focus, Our Place, and college sponsorships.

  • SERVICE

    Hosted, over 25+ years, free Lake County Health Fair in partnership with Lake County Head Start, Great Lakes Naval Base, Lake Forest Hospital, North Chicago Park District, several Lake County churches, social service providers and health care professionals and vendors.

  • IMPACT

    First African American organization to donate to the National Achievement Scholarship Program (now the UNCF Achievement Capstone Program).

  • SERVICE

    Hosted yearly spring Chicago Sinfonietta concert and workshop for 40-50 elementary youth at Family Focus–Evanston

    Conducted art auctions and free art exhibits to provide a market for African American artists on the North Shore and Chicago area.

    Established a JoAhn Brown Nash Reading Room at Family Focus–Evanston that provides reading materials and welcoming space for young readers.
